GMT and UTC all over again

Fortfarande detta gnällande om att UTC är komplicerat. Folk som tycker att GMT är BST på sommaren. Nu fick jag än en gång förklara för användarna av nått nytt system som vårt ska integrera med. Då piggar det upp att läsa om sommartidens historia i England. Double Summer Time såg för övrigt till att stränderna Utah och Omaha landstegs en timme före Gold, Sword och Juno - Timmen T på Dagen D inföll ju halv sju enligt den klocka som varje enskild amerikansk och brittisk soldat hade på armen.

    The strange thing is that the Americans would use Zulu time - at least nowadays - if they were in England and didn't want to use the time currently used there. Instead they chose to set their clocks to whatever it would have been in e.g. New York plus 5 hours, since they moved 5 timezones and USA used daylight savings time during both world wars. It's quite an active decision to create confusion?

    BTW - did I mention Double/Single Daylight Savings Time?

    It would be nice to have just UTC and be done with it. Guess you need to write a Part II on this one ;)... looking forward to it !
